Margo Gladding

Margo Gladding, MS, CNS, LDN – Herbalist, Nutritionist

Margo’s impressive knowledge base is the result of a unique blend of educational and professional experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Science degree in Herbal Medicine, providing her with a strong foundation in the history, science, and practice of herbal medicine. Margo is also certified as a Nutrition Specialist and is a licensed nutritionist. Since joining Village Green in 2005, Margo has been talking with customers in the store, providing private consultations, and researching and writing educational materials to help people learn more about nutrition and herbs. Margo counsels both children and adults with a wide range of health challenges. Her recommendations are always client specific and include the use of herbs and supplements, as well as dietary and lifestyle suggestions. Margo has recently been appointed by the Governor to serve on the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice.

Paula Gallagher

Paula Gallagher, B.A.Sc. – Nutrition Counselor

Paula is a highly qualified and experienced nutrition counselor on the staff at Village Green Apothecary. Paula graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, and holds a degree in Applied Human Nutrition. She has since worked both in Canada and the United States as a nutrition and wellness counselor in a variety of professional settings. Paula feels it is fundamentally important to provide nutritional education to people on how to maximize their health through diet, exercise, and supplementation.

Amanda Buxbaum

Amanda Buxbaum, MS, CNS, LDN – Nutritionist

Amanda Buxbaum is a licensed nutritionist with a Masters Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport with a special interest in fitness, weight loss and wellness. Amanda’s approach is gentle and patient-centered with the goal of maximizing joy and self-direction as central to the goal of healing and health. Her background as an actuarial analyst gives her the analytical edge when studying the current health research and problem-solving with patients. Amanda is also a Certified Nutrition Specialist and is in her fifth year of teaching nutrition at Montgomery College. Amanda is the point person at Village Green for SpectraCell testing.

Dr. Juanita Cox

Dr. Juanita Cox – Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Juanita Cox was born in Guyana (South America), where she grew up and spent time caring for others at a very young age. After emigrating to the U.S. with her family, she furthered her education by earning her bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Bowie State University. At the same time, she attended an internship/research program at NIH, where she received graduate level credits. Dr. Cox earned her doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine from National University of Health Sciences in Illinois, where she completed her clinical courses, clinical internship and rotations. She simultaneously enrolled in a Master’s of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine degree program and graduated in December 2016. She is also a Certified Nutrition Specialist and a Licensed Dietician-Nutritionist.

Dr. Cox has an extensive background in conventional medicine from her years working in places such as Haiti and Guyana. She uses her knowledge and clinical experience to specialize in the areas of chronic diseases and geriatrics, an area she feels is underserved. Over the years, Dr. Cox has been able to combine her experience in both conventional and alternative medicine to make steps in supporting the human body as a whole so that it can facilitate its own natural healing process.

Kate CostelloKate Costello, CNS – Nutrition Counselor

Kate practices functional nutrition by emphasizing the healing power of whole-food nutrition and wellness practices like movement, stress-reduction, sleep hygiene and mindfulness practices. Kate works with complex issues including, but not limited to, autoimmune conditions, blood glucose dysregulation, childhood nutritional needs, chronic fatigue syndrome, food sensitivities, hormone imbalances, inflammatory bowel disease, and thyroid dysfunction. She has worked with the Multiple Sclerosis Center at Johns Hopkins to better understand diet in people living with MS. Kate earned her undergraduate degree at Coastal Carolina University in Health Promotion and Exercise Science and her graduate degrees in Nutrition and Health Coaching at the Maryland University of Integrative Health. Kate is also a proficient vegan baker, cat and plant mama, and a lover of yoga and sleeping in on Sunday mornings

Naz AminiNaz Amini, MS, CNS, CNC, LDN – Nutritionist

Naz has been a licensed clinical nutritionist for the last 10 years. She holds a Master of Science degree in human nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, providing her with a strong foundation in biochemistry, science and practice of nutraceutical therapy. As an integrative nutritionist and a lifestyle educator, Naz provides individual wellness counseling using current technologies and diagnostic tools. She specializes in autoimmune conditions, digestive health issues and brain health.

Keri Marshall

Dr. Keri Marshall – Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Keri Marshall is a licensed naturopathic doctor practicing integrative family medicine and specializing in pediatrics, women’s medicine and chronic disease management. Dr. Marshall has published several scientific papers and magazine articles, written a book on proteins and amino acids, and appears regularly in the media. Dr. Marshall has served as a scientific adviser for Citizens for Health and Medical Director for Gaia Herbs. She frequently promotes childhood nutrition and a reduction in childhood obesity, and has served on a national level for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. She has also worked locally as a nutrition expert in her public school district. Dr. Marshall serves on several advisory boards and is currently the Chief Medical Officer for Nordic Naturals.

Dr. Marshall received her naturopathic medical degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, a Masters in Epidemiology from SUNY at Buffalo, and Bachelor of Science from George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Duffy MacKay

Dr. Duffy MacKay – Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. MacKay is a licensed naturopathic doctor and was a co-owner and practitioner in a family-owned New Hampshire integrative medicine practice for 7 years.  In addition to his hands-on experience as a practitioner in the field of integrative medicine, he spent 8 years working as a medical consultant for companies in the dietary supplement industry. Currently, Dr. MacKay leads Scientific and Regulatory Affairs for the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association representing dietary supplement manufacturers and ingredient suppliers. Dr. MacKay also serves on several advisory and editorial boards including American Botanical Council, United States Pharmacopeia, Integrative Medicine and Clinicians Journal, and others. Dr. MacKay maintains a part-time practice where he enjoys assisting patients integrate naturopathic medicine into their lives to support health, wellness, and chronic disease management.

Dr. MacKay received his naturopathic medical degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Molly Carr

Molly Carr, CRNP, MS – Nurse Practitioner, Herbalist

Molly is a nurse practitioner and herbalist with a background in practical nutrition. She enjoys working with patients who are interested in a holistic approach to their health issues. Molly specializes in the areas of lifestyle change, weight loss, diabetes, as well as inflammatory and pain conditions. She is also very passionate about supporting patients who are interested in approaching their health issues by going through a gentle yet very effective detox protocol, as outlined in the book "The Toxin Solution" by Dr. Joe Pizzorno. In his book, Dr. Pizzorno, an internationally recognized naturopath, describes how the chemicals we are exposed to disrupt our enzyme systems and result in conditions such as obesity and diabetes plus many other serious health conditions. Molly accepts Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare.

Carmen Ugas

Carmen Ugás, CHHC – Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach

Carmen graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition through Columbia University’s Teachers College and is certified by the American Association for Drugless Practitioners. She has worked closely with prominent integrative medical practitioners in the Washington, DC area and has been trained in FirstLine Therapy, a clinically proven lifestyle program recommended by leading health organizations. Carmen worked for four years as a nutrition counselor at Village Green and continues to guide her clients to discover the underlying causes of their ailments, be proactive about their health, and assess nutritional deficiencies. Carmen successfully manages her rheumatoid arthritis and her daughter’s ADHD by incorporating a therapeutic lifestyle with food as medicine and the use of nutritional supplements. Carmen is available to consult with clients in person in Lima, Perú, and around the world via Skype.
