Village Green wishes everyone a happy and healthy 2010. It is hard to believe that 10 years ago we were stockpiling water and canned goods in preparation for Y2K. It is a good time to reflect, not only on what happened in 2009, but the whole decade. I hope that we all strive for happier and healthier lives, and that we achieve that as well. I also hope that Village Green continues to be a resource for your compounding, supplement, hand and body and prescription needs, as well as a place that provides information and knowledge.
Please feel free to share with us a memory of the last year.
Happy New Year everyone..See you next year!

What? Men and women think differently! No way. Well, apparently it also holds true for keeping your goals. According to Professor Wiseman, a psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire in the U.K., successful strategies for keeping resolutions are often gender dependent. He found that by using gender-specific methods, an extra 22% of men kept their goals, while an additional 10% of women stuck with theirs. (more…)

We bring it on ourselves. The pressure of picking a resolution and the extra pressure of trying to keep it. Perhaps it’s the idea of starting fresh with a clean slate. Maybe it’s the non-stop vision of Valerie Bertinelli, telling us that we too could lose 40 pounds in a month eating all our favorite sweets. Whatever it is, resolutions seem like a good idea when we are coming up with them, but they are always (ALWAYS) hard to keep.
While perusing one of my favorite magazines, I came upon an acronym that made the whole idea of keeping resolutions actually plausible. The idea is to set goals that are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-Based. So how do we accomplish this? (more…)

Bluebonnet Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) 200mg is a kosher product that provides excellent antioxidant support. Simply put, ALA antioxidant properties neutralize free radicals, thereby reducing damage to tissues all over the body, including those in the eyes, liver, vessels and nerves. Alpha lipoic acid aids in recycling the antioxidant vitamins C and E. There is also evidence that it is involved in glutathione production in the liver and aids in the detoxification of the body. Dietary sources rich in alpha lipoic acid include flaxseeds and flaxseed oil, canola oil, soybeans and soybean oil, and pumpkin seeds.
A few conditions that may benefit from supplemental alpha lipoic acid include cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic neuropathy and glaucoma. Talk to one of Village Green’s nutritional experts to see if alpha lipoic acid is right for you.
